According to The Gartner Executive Programs survey entitled "Reimagining IT: The 2011 CIO Agenda", over the next four years, 43 per cent of surveyed CIOs worldwide expect to have most of their IT systems running in the cloud or on software-as-a-service (SaaS) technologies. The current figure is just three per cent. This survey was was conducted from September to December 2010 and includes responses from 2,014 CIOs across 50 countries and 38 industries.
For CIOs worldwide to acknowledge this speaks to not only the value (both real and perceived) value of moving IT systems to the cloud, but also the time frame importance placed on it. The companies that help guide and manage companies/customers through these migrations will become trusted leaders. With all the cloud technologies out there, the competition will not be based on who has the shinier bells and whistles technology wise but who can MANAGE not only that migration but the resulting CRM system created in its wake.
